Why is the SaniTimer® pre-programmed for 30 seconds if it states that I must wash for at least 20 seconds?

The SaniTimer® is programmed for 30 seconds because our studies, research, and trials indicated that the vast majority of users needed extra time to pre-rinse, dispense soap, and create a lather before scrubbing would actually begin. The CDC clearly states that the user should be already lathered, under the water, and scrubbing for a minimum of 20 seconds. The extra 10 seconds accounts for the prep and delay.
